This software that was released in Japan is quite popular in the artist’s world because it is simple, and it has a lot of cool tools. There have been a lot of updates when it comes to Paint Tool SAI brushes. Today there are many brush tools available and the question is how do you know which one to use? For sure with some research you can have an idea of what certain brushes do but what if you want to get the best for your digital paintings? If you are a beginner and this and looking for some guidance we want to help. This one was a bit longer then usual, but…well, there’s some unexpected things with this brush.When you are a digital artist you know how important are the tools that you use. HOWEVER, if you click the left mouse button, and HOLD it, then release it, SAI will detect the release as another click and decrease the pigment further, I’m not sure why it does this, but oh well. If you quickly click the left mouse and release it, you decrease the pigment in the area of the brushes selection a bit. Now, if you’re using a mouse, the size of the stroke is maxed to the brush size, but the pigment for erasing isn’t. That said, you CAN use it to change the pigment in strokes you’ve made…though, I just use it for flat out erasing myself. Now, for the tool itself! When using this tool with pressure sensitivity, the pressure will greatly effect the size of it’s strokes, as well as the pigment of the strokes it’s erasing. If you do this wrong however, like if you don’t touch the eraser end to the tablet when setting the Eraser to that end, then you will actually set the eraser to the Pen tip. When you’re drawing something, and want to quickly erase it, if you just flip the pen over and touch the eraser end to the tablet, SAI will automatically switch to the Eraser tool. Though to do this, just flip the pen over to use the eraser and tap that end to the tablet so it knows you’re using that end, then switch to the eraser. Now, for anyone that has one of the Wacom Pen & Tablet’s, you’ve probably noticed that both ends of your pen have an end that react to your tablet, the pen, and the eraser ends, you can have any tool set for these ends, but the eraser end is…well, meant for the eraser, as that way you can quickly switch to the eraser whenever you need to. Though, as before, here’s an example of the eraser tool at work. Especially since I think you can actually colour with the Eraser tool in some of them, and in case you CAN do that in some programs, you can’t colour with the Eraser tool in SAI. However, it doesn’t work like equivalent tools in other art programs do. That being said, the Eraser works like you’d expect, it’s an eraser, it erasers things. Well, today it’s the eraser…not.really too much to say about the eraser.
